Fast paced week…

Hey all…

Just thought I’d write some stuff down before I go to bed. Off to a wedding shoot tomorrow. Have to wake up early…and yeap…I’m still up…and it’s already 2.18am. And phew, it’s been a hectic week for me. Earlier this week, I had some brochure design to finish. 5 of them actually. Technically, 2 of them was an easy task. I had to change the text header…yeah…just the simple header. So I thought…“Hey, it’s a 5 mins task…could probably even be 2…but I’m probably over-reacting”…so I took my time, designed the other 2 brochures…and in the end…I was sure I could finish off this 3 brochures in a blink of an eye. So I retrieved the file from company’s web…and opened it in Adobe Illustrator…and WHAM!! I didn’t have the font…the whole thing was all over the place…ok fine…googled it for a bit….bumped into a few sites…and I’ve got it! Opened it back again…and WHAM!! The layers for the brochure was all over the place. I was already panicking…see the thing is…it would’ve been easier if the previous designer saved the native ‘ai’ file and stored it in an online server…but nope…they’ve only got the PDF. So great…I had to cut each of the segments and arrange it back into simple and cleaner layers. Yeap…I’ve got a thing for clean work. Even if it’s only meant for other designers to see. Coz the thing about me is…if I’d made this work clean…inside and out…it would make things easier for stuff to be changed later on. It wouldn’t take a whole lot of time for any designer to sort of make sense out of the whole layers in the file. It would be friendly. So I like it like that. For anything that I work with…I demand cleanliness and perfection…and yeah…you’ve got it right…inside and out! Unless those are last minute work…then it would be a total chaos! Like a tornado came by and wiped out everything in the frame and layers that it’s like a treasure hunt trying to look for the (triangular like shape…right behind the letter ‘e’ and in between those round like shadowy shape behind it). Ok ok…I’m rambling. But for those of you who get me…you know what I mean. It’s as simple as deleting the shape or an element…but to get to it…AYAYAY!! %$^&#!!

So that’s done…*clap clap*…

Next, I’ve got to design an e-card. For christmas, of course! Which I had been putting aside for the past week due to unforeseen mental circumstances! hahahaha!! You people must thing I’m crazy! So that e card took a while…bout…3 days to finish…*clap clap*

Then a friend of mine wanted me to help him out with an interactive CD. Sure…no problem…

See he’s got this Reggae band called Purevibracion…and they’re releasing a new album under Laguna Records soon. So he wants to make his album interesting. They put in the audio CD in a computer…and pop comes out an interactive application which lets them go through the world of Purevibracion. “Wow!! I like!”…and he wanted me to make it as simple as possible…“Uh-oh…simple?? Me?? Man, that’s hard!”…I mean I like simple and clean design…I love simple and clean interior…I like everything that’s clean and flawless…I like stuff without fingerprints…but whenever people ask me to do a design work…and if the word ’simple’ happen to be in the description…that could only be one thing…TIGHT DEADLINE!! And so I was right…he gave me a week to get it done…and in return…I’ll get to publish my name in the album under the credits section…how awesome…plus I get to promote Mayagraphy which makes it even more ‘awesome-greatness’…hahahah…

So that took around…3 ‘2′ hours a night sleep…loads of coffee and red bull…and naps during lunch time at the office…and…a quick power nap when I get back from work. Hahahaha!! Don’t you love being a designer?? Honestly, it keeps your brains ticking and rolling. Some people say it’s bad…that you’ll age faster and all that…but with ‘Loreal Men Expert’…I don’t have to worry bout that! We are…nocturnal creatures anyway. Ideas flood in best at night…especially after 1.30am…for me, that is! But I have to admit…too long of this kinda thing…will surely make you feel…flushed out and giving up…I guess it’s the passion that keeps me rolling…and I LOVE IT to BITS!!

Next…I had to shoot some stuff for the office…and this time…I wanted it to look extra good. How good? ‘Stock photography good!’ HELL YEAH!! And it’s been a long while since I wanted to do this. So I went to a fabric store to get those velvet cloth. One black and one white…cheaper than the normal photography backdrop I can assure you. (I’ll write this down in my next post…I’ll even give you a step-by-step guide if you’re interested)…but even if you’re not…I’m just gonna write it down anyways…! So I DID IT!! Me and Dan DID IT!! And we leaped for joy…well not physically…but in our hearts I know we did! The pictures came out fantastic…the light setup was just right…and the cloths…perfect!! And I oh so feel like selling the pictures in Corbis or Getty…but naah…I think what I do for my company…is what I do for my company…the images are theirs…and it’s not fair if I abuse the responsibility given to me. Personal portfolio…yes…but using it to make profit in any way…or put it MG’s website…I don’t think so! Hahaha…bit cheesy…but that’s how I feel…And plus I can always do it again for MG…now that I know how to do it…!

And tomorrow…a wedding shoot…and it’s 2.57am. I’ve GOT TO SLEEP!! So that was practically my week…kinda ‘fast-paced-action-arnold-shooting-elephants’…but it was a positive rush to my system. LOVE IT!!

All text…yada yada yada…boring I know…I just wanted to update myself and the world bout what’s been happening, that’s all. Plus I can’t wait to blog about each of those work…well not everything…maybe 3 out of 4 of…coz one of them is…well, private and confidential.
